Inexpensive, clean convenient to airport. Rooms are basic. Great 10 minute shuttle service to airport. Unfortunately my room was next to reception where shuttle picked up and dropped off. Groups arrived at 10, midnight and 2am and left for airport at 4, 5:30 and 6. Ask for room upstairs away from reception. Priced at less than $30 it was a great deal.
It's not that often that you can claim you've had a great experience with a hotel at the $30 price point, but I certainly did at Hostal Mariscal Sucre. I was picked up within 15 minutes of contacting the hotel from the airport and graciously helped with my lugged and informed it would be a 7 minute drive. After assisting me with my luggage to my room I was sent a pdf menu with several great options for delivery to my room. I chose the cheeseburger and fries, which arrived within 15 minutes, hot and delicious. At check in I had asked about breakfast, which was scheduled to begin at 7L30 a.m., 30 minutes following my departure. Imagine my surprise when I received a knock at my door at 6:40 a.m. with a breakfast try featuring scrambled eggs, a toasted cheese sandwich, fresh juice and coffee. My ride to the airport wasn't far behind, with a knock on the door and assistance with my luggage at 7 a.m. What an incredible experience!
Juan Carlos and his family provide a great stay. Clean, cheap, great service. Prices are great and include daily breakfast (with eggs cooked to choice), free transfer to airport, and portable water (fill up your own water bottles). A taxi or Uber from the airport will be about $10 USD or less. An Uber to the city or back cost us less than $20.
Cash only. Hostel does not take credit card (but for the price, I don't mind).
Went here for just 1 night and it was charming. The staff (Juan Carlos) and I think his wife are just super. Not only did they pick us up but brought us our luggage at the airport, way later after we checked out. We left it there to go explore Quito and go to the equator. We were just so tickled with everything they did to help us. The rooms are very clean and the bed was comfortable, remember it is a hostel. My only suggestion is to bring ear plugs as the jets fly over. If you don't you will still fall asleep and be comfortable. I would definitely go back! Thanks Juan Carlos for everything you did for us.
